Primary Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the Area Director of Adult Faith Formation is to support the vision of the area faith community and is comprised of several elements: 1) coordinate and implement opportunities for adults in the area faith community to form and deepen their call to discipleship; 2) develop, plan and direct the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process for adults in the area faith community choosing to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church; 3) direct the lay volunteers who teach and prepare parents who wish to have their children baptized; and 4) develop a process to increase and support small Christian communities.

This position is part of a team consisting of priests and other directors who work together to carry out the evangelical and catechetical vision of the area faith community.

Job Qualifications:
▪ It is required that this employee filling this position be an active, participating Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
▪ Degree in Religious Education, Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Education or related field or equivalent experience is required; as is Diocesan Catechetical training and knowledge of and ability to convey effectively the official teaching of the Church with a demonstrated fidelity to these teachings and an informed understanding of Vatican II.
▪ Proven experience in effective modalities of adult learning.
▪ Ability to train leaders to facilitate adult faith formation experiences.
▪ Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
▪ Demonstrated track record of ability to work harmoniously in a team environment.
▪ Verifiable use of continued education to increase abilities and knowledge.
▪ Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle, or have a means of transportation to enable travel to the two parishes in the area faith community as needed.
▪ Possess an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and goals.
▪ Successful completion of criminal and motor vehicle background checks.
