The Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Director of Faith Formation supporting, sustaining, and developing Comprehensive Faith Formation in the Area Catholic Community made up of the parishes of St. Peter, St. Paul, and St. Michael in St. Cloud, and St. Joseph’s in Waite Park.  A qualified applicant exemplifies a commitment to living a faith life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church, is a practicing Roman Catholic who is committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.   He or she shows competency in sharing faith effectively with others.

Job Duties Include:

  • Assists the Director of Faith Formation in the development of goals, objectives and implementation strategies for a comprehensive faith formation program that serves children, youth and adults.
  • Assists in program and curriculum review and development in collaboration with volunteer catechists and other staff.
  • Assists in coordination of faith formation, youth ministry and Sacramental preparation in collaboration with other staff and neighboring parishes.

Qualities of a Good Applicant

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education or a related field.
  • Experience in youth ministry or faith formation leadership.
  • Live and actively practice the Roman Catholic faith.
  • Knowledge of the Catholic doctrine and beliefs as presented in the documents of Vatican Council II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other relevant Church and Catechetical Documents.
  • Aptitude for and skills relating to working as a collaborative team member.
  • Computer literacy, excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

Qualities that Might Set an Applicant Apart:

Job Description: Saint Mary’s is seeking a part-time position (10-15 hours a week) for a Liturgy Coordinator. The qualified candidate will accompany, lead, and prepare appropriate sacred music for weekend, holy day, wedding, funeral, and seasonal liturgical services. For these events, the candidate will schedule, recruit and oversee musician groups. The candidate will be respectful and follow the directives indicated in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) and other relevant liturgical documents of the Catholic Church. The candidate will work with clergy for any special liturgical preparations. Other responsibilities include organizing and maintaining a music library.

Requirements: The qualified candidate must have experience accompanying for a Catholic Liturgy and strong piano and vocal abilities. A candidate must have excellent musical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. In addition they must have liturgical knowledge and spiritual and pastoral leadership qualities.
