Responsibilities: The Director of Schools serves as the Bishop’s delegate in matters relating to Catholic schools within the diocese. The Director is responsible for the general coordination and support of diocesan Catholic elementary and high schools assisting to assure the school communities are proclaiming the Good News by communicating and giving witness to God’s saving love for all people.

Qualifications: A person in full communion with the Catholic Church; thorough knowledge of the Catholic Church’s teaching as related to schools; a master’s degree in educational administration or related field; experience as a school principal or as a school superintendent is preferred; and outstanding leadership skills. This person also must have sound organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to travel regularly by automobile.

Job Purpose: To perform in an enthusiastic and professional manner the duties of a music and choral director and coordinator of liturgy. This individual will nurture a prayerful, singing assembly by supporting the gospel message through song, challenging the assembly to live their faith as missionary disciples. The individual will provide leadership in planning and coordinating the celebration of the liturgy and all other activities relating to worship and prayer within the parish faith community.

Responsibilities & Tasks: Music Ministry: Recruit and direct adult choir, youth choir, accompanist on piano & organ when required. Recruit, train and schedule cantors and musicians for all liturgies and prayer services. Liturgies: Prepare and implement week-end Masses, Holy Days, Triduum, Easter and Christmas celebrations and for each season of the year; compose liturgical aids when necessary, assist couples in planning marriage ceremonies, funeral planning with families, serve as baptismal coordinator, recruit and train all volunteer coordinators for ushers/greeters, communion ministers, altar servers, lectors, sacristans and coordinate training for all liturgical ministers.
Worship Space: Recruit individual to chair and members to advise and assist in art and environment, supervise upkeep of liturgical vessels and worship space and maintain the liturgical supplies; wine, candles, baptismal gowns, etc. Other: Have a working knowledge of Conciliar and Post-Conciliar documents of Vatican II and the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church. Serve as a resource person to other staff planning liturgical services. The above tasks are included in the Job Description but are not inclusive of all responsibilities of the position.
