The Diocese of St. Cloud is seeking an Associate Director for Lay Leadership Formation. This position is focused on planning and developing programs for the formation of lay leaders within parishes and Catholic schools throughout the diocese. This will be achieved through:

Pastoral Leadership Development
a. Support lay leaders in their on-going professional and spiritual development.
b. Connect lay leaders to programs that meet their needs
c. Work with pastors and parish staff to identify the need for trained lay leaders and to offer ways to meet that need.
d. Coordinate the certification process for lay leaders in the diocese.
e. Provide orientation and in-service for lay leaders in collaboration with other diocesan offices.
f. Assist in planning faith formation and related in-service opportunities in collaboration with other diocesan offices.
g. Develop models of formation that take into account the multicultural diversity of the diocese.

Collaboration with other Diocesan Offices and National Catholic Organizations
a. Collaborate with other diocesan offices in the formation of lay leaders.
b. Collaborate with Catholic colleges to offer ongoing formation for lay leadership.
c. Build relationships with national Catholic leadership organizations including Catholic Colleges and other institutions.

Experience: three to five years parish and/or Diocesan work experience.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Travel, nights, and weekends are required.

Department Summary:
The Social Concerns Department challenges Catholic & other faith communities to put their faith into action by living Catholic social teaching through a variety of programming initiatives, structured educational opportunities, and conversations throughout the St. Cloud Diocese.

Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for bringing people together to work on the social problems of economically distressed rural areas, immigrant populations, and refugee communities. This work is completed through three different roles: the (1) Rural Life Coordinator, (2) Community Organizer and (3) The Director of Social Concerns. Some issues (i.e. isolation, exclusion, racism, language barriers, securing employment, housing, etc.) may be common to all communities this position serves, while others will be isolated to a particular community. The individuals in this position will work towards empowering the vulnerable and/or marginalized in these communities to achieve social and economic change.
The Immigration Community Organizer will be working heavily within Spanish speaking communities in the Diocese of St. Cloud area and must have the ability to speak fluently in both Spanish and English.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum of 2 years post high school required

Experience: Any combination of training and/or related work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties as described-requires 3 plus years of this training/work experience.

Other Requirements:
Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English

Hours: Part-Time: Approximately 18 hours/week. Flexible hours, days and evenings and occasional weekends.
