The Superintendent of Catholic Schools / Director of Catholic Education Ministries serves as the general administrative officer coordinating the ministry of Catholic education in the Diocese of St. Cloud. This includes giving direction for ongoing formation and education for Catholic Schools and parish leaders in the diocese.

Primary duties include:

  • Administration of Catholic Education Ministries
    • Gives direction and sets goals for the office of Catholic Education Ministries.
    • Provides professional leadership to other Catholic Education Ministries staff by facilitating diocesan educational goals and objectives and oversees their implementation.
  • Coordinate educational efforts in the diocese
    • Identifies major areas facing the educational mission of the diocese.
    • Provides information regarding the laws and developing legislation affecting Catholic education.
    • Coordinates and provides guidance for effective personnel recruitment, screening, orientation, in-service, growth and development.
    • Assists parishes and schools by providing consultation resources and facilitation in the areas of consolidation/restructuring, grievance/appeals and conflict resolution.
    • Communicates educational concerns with all diocesan entities.
    • Cooperates with requests for information on education in the diocese.
    • Speaks, writes and reports on issues concerning Catholic Education.
  • Leadership and service development to Catholic Schools
    • Plans and coordinates meetings and one retreat day each year for all principals.
    • Assists principals in initiating the school improvement process for MNSAA or other agencies.
    • Assesses compliance of the Catholic Identity Standard for schools engaged in the accreditation process
    • Assists Catholic schools with strategic planning, when requested.
    • Attends area principal meetings when feasible.
    • Visits every Catholic School in the diocese on a regular basis.
    • Conducts in-service for school faculties, when requested.
    • Facilitates Catholic School curriculum development in the diocese.
    • Retains membership in NCEA and MNSAA.
    • Fields calls involving school issues.
    • Assists the pastor and/or his leadership team in evaluation methods for principals and finding principal candidates.
  • Executive Officer for Diocesan Education Council
    • Presents topics and educational concerns for the council to help envision faith development for the future.
    • Recommends policies to the council and advises the council on educational issues when the need arises.

Education: Master’s degree in education or related field. Background in theology or catechesis strongly preferred.

Experience: Five years teaching experience with at least three years of administrative experience.
